The Market is so named because of the many road-side produce stands seen along a typical south Louisiana bayou. Home grown vegetables and seafood are plentiful. Do you know what a merliton is? How are okra and filé used? Many Cajun recipes feature the seasoning trinity; onions, bell pepper and celery.
Each visitor will experience a unique shopping trip with recipes to fill and groceries to weigh. Shelves will be at varying heights for stocking. It is a fun place for kids to select food from the shelves, fill their shopping carts and then check out at the register. Role playing becomes the primary focus.
