How much will the BCCM cost to build?
Using post Katrina figures, the Bayou Country Children’s Museum will cost $3.4 million to build.
Where will the BCCM be located?
A long-term lease for a prime 2.5-acre tract adjacent to Nicholls State University has been designated for the 12,500 sq. ft. structure.
What will the BCCM look like?
A nationally recognized children’s museum designer has completed concept drawings. Check out the OUR EXHIBITS link to see some of these drawings.
How will the museum tie in with schools in the area?
Educators are working on lesson plans to extend and coordinate with the exhibits what is learned in the classroom.
How many visitors can the museum expect each year?
Museum operation and outreach will be supported by an expected 45,000 visitors annually from the surrounding eight parishes.
Will I receive recognition for my gift?
At the completion of the campaign, all donors will be recognized in a suitable manner for their generous gifts.
Is my gift tax deductable?
A donation to the BCCM is fully tax-deductible. Multiple year pledges are tax deductible for each year that payments are made.
Can I make a gift of stock or property?
Some donors may prefer to make a gift of appreciated stock or property. The tax deduction for a gift of stock is determined by the value of the stock on the date the transfer occurs. The donor does not have to pay tax on the capital gain and may deduct up to 30% of their adjusted gross income, with a five-year carry over for any unused deduction. All donors are encouraged to consult with their financial advisor about gifts of this type.
How will the pledge be paid?
While a one-time payment is welcomed, a donation campaign pledge can extend over a five-year time frame. You select the payment option that best fits your situation: annual, semi-annual, or quarterly installments. Reminder notices will be sent for your convenience.
