A truly unique exhibit to our museum! Visitors can climb, crawl and tunnel on this one-of-a-kind monster piece of equipment. Sit in the cab of this full-size sugarcane harvester and watch a video of what it looks like to harvest in the fields.

Grab a shopping cart and pick your favorite local ingredients in the market, then scan the bar code at the check-out to encourage math and reading skills through role play.

Who was Jean Lafitte and what did he bury? Dig to find pirate treasures and items from this area’s unique past!

Role play in our pretend restaurant equipped with a kitchen, dining tables and all the mock staples of a real restaurant. Seat your guests at the dining, tables, take their orders and whip up a Cajun feast for them to enjoy.

Explore the importance of the waterways of South Eastern Louisiana including Bayou Lafourche, the Gulf of Mexico, and our Estuary system.  The exhibit shows the interaction of water and land from the pumps at Donaldsonville to the Gulf of Mexico.  Children can explore pumps, operate the boom crane on an oilrig, and move locks all in a water table.  The mural depicts the landscape and wildlife of the estuary and life in Southern Louisiana

Another signature exhibit, visitors can climb, crawl, and pretend to be on a working shrimp boat. Visitors will learn about the many types of crops that the Gulf of Mexico provides, sort them into buckets and transport them to the coast for sale.

Hide in the grassy thick of this exhibit and use oversized binoculars to spot waterfowl in the museum.

Many different types of bridges exist in that bayou region. This exhibit will encourage learning the differences between beam, arch, suspension, and cable-stayed bridges and how they each perform.

Safetyville is an engaging exhibit hosted by our local LPSO deputy, featuring daily safety presentations and entertaining puppet shows. It's a fun and educational experience for all ages, promoting important safety messages in an interactive way.

The possibilities are endless for arranging these oversized gears so that they will work effectively, encouraging gross motor skills and an understanding of how gears work together to create movement.

Build a bridge with large, soft, numbered blocks in an arch shape, then knock them down and start all over again!

This two-story signature exhibit sparks curiosity as children learn all about oil platforms. Up top, you can operate a crane, fish for different types of saltwater fish, and learn all about what the black sludge makes- tennis shoes, basketballs, colors, and more!

Children learn the importance of observation, concentration, camouflage, and hide & seek with this oversized mural. Can you spot all of the items from the looking glass book on the Louisiana wall map? Satsuma, pelican, okra, accordion, and more!

Step in our alligator float and toss beads to a wall of moving arms!

This exhibit invites visitors to explore the world of Cajun music while they interact with oversized floor key board.

Put on a puppet play for your friends while you watch it from behind the curtain on TV.

Interact with the plug-in electric car, sit inside and drive and don’t forget to change that flat tire! 

Kids and adults can engage in building together and build an understanding of physics, design, art and engineering.

Learn the importance of physics, demonstrating how lifting heavy loads is accomplished more easily by utilizing pulleys. Try one chair lift with one set of pulleys vs. the next chair lift with multiple pulleys.

Grab a hard hat and get to work! In Coco’s Construction Zone, kids can build, stack, and create using giant foam blocks while wearing real construction vests and helmets. This hands-on space encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and big imagination—because every great builder starts with play!

Watch air take flight! Drop scarves or balls into the tubes and see them soar through twists and turns. It’s hands-on fun that shows how air pressure and motion work together—science in action!

This zone is created for children 3 & under. They can safely explore the world around them and make new discoveries.
