Bayou Lafourche Estuary
The Bayou Lafourche Estuary exhibit invites children to discover the waterways, wildlife and landscapes that make our region so unique.

This exhibit features a hands-on Bayou Lafourche Play Table, where children can explore familiar features of the bayou, including bridges, levees and the lock system, while learning through imaginative play. Look up and around to discover some of the creatures that swim, crawl and fly throughout our estuary, all set against a vibrant bayou mural.

The exhibit introduces children to the important connection between our waterways, wildlife and the communities that call South Louisiana home.

Created with input and guidance from Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Waterworks, the exhibit helps young learners understand that clean drinking water doesn't simply appear when we turn on the tap. It comes from an important natural resource that must be treated, protected and cared for.
